Can words describe the fragrance of the very breath of spring? ~ Neltje Blanchan

I was in the midst of shooting some food pics for my other blog and I realized, when I looked in the mirror, this is how my family sees me most of the time. As if a camera is permanently affixed to my face!! Thankfully, they’re good sports.

The butterfly is a flying flower,
The flower a tethered butterfly.

I’ve always regarded nature as the clothing of God. ~ Alan Hovhaness

I apologize in advance for the less-than-average quality of this photo.  I shot it in a hurry with the absolute wrong lens; the one that happened to be on my camera at the time, hand-held in low light.  (Not that I have a lens even remotely capable of photographing things in low light and hurtling through space millions of miles above Earth).  But I thought I’d share it, anyway.  It was sort of fun to see.

A fallen blossom
returning to the bough, I thought —
But no, a butterfly.

Q:  Is it possible to become friends with a butterfly?

A:  It is if you first become a part of nature. You suppress your presence as a human being, stay very still, and convince yourself that you are a tree or grass or a flower. It takes time, but once the butterfly lets its guard down, you can become friends quite naturally.” ― Haruki Murakami, 1Q84
